In the past one or two years, power shortage has appeared again in the eastern region. From the point of view of ensuring power supply and improving energy efficiency, it is particularly urgent to build UHV.

"This is a very good beginning, and it should be implemented in the planning. Without UHV, many things will come to a dead end. In his view, if the coal base continues to transport coal mainly from outside, it will fall into many problems: insufficient capacity of railway coal transportation, excessive pressure of highway transportation, and too much pressure of environmental protection at the user end. Moreover, the situation of coal and electricity losses in major power generation companies is very serious. UHV accelerates development, which can indirectly solve the problem of coal prices soaring in the middle link.

 

　　"In addition, after the construction of UHV transmission lines in several coal-fired power bases in Northwest China, it is no longer necessary to build transmission channels for wind power alone. For example, Xinjiang has both coal and wind power, as well as Inner Mongolia. Jiuquan in Gansu has both wind power and coal in Xinjiang and outer Mongolia can also be used to build thermal power plants. Therefore, it can kill two birds with one stone." Bai Jianhua said, "If the wind power transmission channel is built separately, we have calculated the accounts, and it costs more than 80 cents per kilowatt hour to send to East China Power Grid, which is too high."

　　For the progress of UHV work in 2011, the State Grid is clear: to ensure the approval of Huainan (southern Anhui) - Shanghai UHV AC project in the first quarter, strive for the approval of Ximeng - Nanjing, Huainan (Nanjing) - Shanghai UHV AC project in the first half of the year, Mongolia - Changsha, Jingbian - Lianyungang UHV AC project and Xiluodu - Zhexi, Hami - Henan UHVDC project in the first half of the year. Last year's approval was slow.

 

　　If successfully realized, this means that seven lines will be built, far beyond the scale of 2010, which will bring a huge wave of equipment investment. According to Shen Wan's estimate, 19.4 billion yuan and 23 billion yuan will be invested in Xiluodu-West Zhejiang and Hami-Henan UHVDC projects respectively. And if all seven lines are built, the investment will be huge.
